Our Story

The WTH community space management board was formed in Spring 2022 with the purpose of bringing together representatives from the local community, the building developers and Southwark Council to collectively agree a vision for the community space and to select the best not for profit operator to deliver the vision.

Our Board is a unique and diverse collective. We have representation across generations ranging from Gen Z to Baby Boomers. Between us we have a wealth of local knowledge gained as residents and community leaders who live and/or work in the area.

In our first year as a Board we have focused on building our vision, setting our mission and agreeing our values. We have also spent time visiting a wide range of community spaces across London and listening to our local residents and community groups.

As a Developer Representative, my role centres on ensuring that the future operator of the WTH Community Space aligns with our commitment to fostering a positive, vibrant, and inclusive environment within Walworth Town Hall, while adding value to the local area.

It’s an honour to be part of this important process, and I am excited to work with the Board to select an operator who shares our vision and dedication.

My name is Manisha, I am the Chair of the WTH community space management Board. It is an honour to Chair this Board; my fellow board members and I understand the great responsibility that we hold.

We are committed to ensuring that the new community space is open to everyone and reflects the richness and diversity of Walworth. We are ambitious in our vision for the space in terms of use and accessibility and we want to see a thriving community hub that delivers something for every resident

Hi, my name is Allison, as the Community and Events Executive at Walworth Town Hall, I’m the first point of contact for the newly renovated WTH Community Space. Since stepping into this role, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with a wide range of community-focused organizations that are making a real difference in the local area.

With General People as the operator, my goal is to ensure the WTH Community Space remains a welcoming and accessible hub for collaboration, creativity, and meaningful connections, helping to strengthen and support the Walworth community.

My hopes for the community spare are that it will serve as a place where members of the community can not only feel welcomed, but also feel free to express themselves and the community.
